Construction is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Every physical safety measure is taken to protect on-site workers, yet in the UK the industry loses two workers every working day*, not to the physical dangers associated with the job, but to suicide. This statistic could be lowered if there was more awareness of the help and support that is available.
With nearly one in three new commercial vehicles sold in the UK being a Ford**, we can actively promote wellbeing awareness amongst our customers and help put mental safety on an equal footing with physical safety on construction sites. By helping to make the support more visible, more workers can seek assistance from available resources.
Ford have partnered with the Lighthouse Club, a charity 100% dedicated to providing emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families. The charity provides a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline, offering free and confidential support, complemented by a Self-Support App. Their free text HARDHAT to 85258 service provides yet another route of support, along with Lighthouse Beacons who offer a safe space for people to share concerns. If you need help or support now, or know someone that does, you can access free and confidential support 24/7 via:
